El programa de suelos y geotecnia está enfocado en la Investigación fundamental y aplicada del comportamiento mecánico de suelos, rocas, y demás materiales granulares bajo diversas escalas de análisis y condiciones de carga.

Análisis del efecto del clima en los parámetros característicos de los materiales granulares.

Modelación física y numérica de casos extremos de estructuras geotecnicas. 

Estudio de las propiedades fundamentales en la propagación de ondas en medios granulares y estudio del comportamiento cíclico y dinámico de suelos y rocas.  

Estudio del efecto de la forma y el tamaño de las partículas en el comportamiento de medios granulares. 

Estudio de la movilidad y características de la interacción entre partículas y fluidos en el contexto de deslizamientos y demás movimientos de masa.
