Professor Mauricio Sanchez-Silva joined Stanford’s Civil and Environmental Engineering Department as Shimizu Visiting Professor during the first semester of 2023. He will be working with the Stanford Urban Resilience Initiative (SURI), whose mission is to explore the frontier of Resilience Science & Engineering, an emerging field which applies engineering analyses to broader questions of social impact and human behavior in the context of disasters and extreme events.
